Opern

Opera Now (GB), 01. November 1990
The most important triumph was celebrated by the orchestra, tackling Wagner for the first time, and so risking direct, invidious comparison with the senior, Royal Concertgebouw (...) full of the most fascinating detail. All credit to their conductor Hartmut Haenchen, whose interpretation erred on the right side: it was never bombastic or pompous-equally, though, it never aches, as Parsifal needs to, if it is to make its full impact.
