Hartmut Haenchen dirige l'Orchestre du Royal Opera House sans la légèreté des récitatifs qui alternent avec sa baguette empesée, lestant certes la partition d'un peu de poids métaphysique. Les chœurs bien que relégués aux bords de scène ou aux coulisses sont des paysans ou démons enthousiastes.

Mit einem präzise durchdachten Bühnenbild, das diese außergewöhnliche Inszenierung trägt und inspieriert – und dem wie immer erstklassigen, temperamentvollen Orchester der Royal Opera unter der souveränen Stabführung von Hartmut Haenchen. Auch Mozart und Da Ponte wären hingerissen gewesen.
